The murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd ignited a community response not seen since the Civil Rights Movement. Not only did their deaths highlight inequities in policing, but also illustrated the daily challenges faced in our black communities.

In response, the Triangle Iotas launched a multi-tiered initiative to initiate projects to enhance black communities across the Triangle.

Our efforts are in honor of Arbery, Taylor, Floyd, and the countless others killed due to police brutality and racism in the United States.

 

 

The Triangle Iotas started an ongoing series to increase voter literacy among underrepresented communities.

The Triangle Iotas launched a virtual series to help the public understand what to do, as well as their rights, when encountering law enforcement.

 

The Triangle Iotas created a voter FAQ page to help North Carolina voters better understand the voting process and answer questions related to voter ID and other voting topics.

The Triangle Iotas are working with the region’s largest school districts to identify ways to add more black and brown context to K-12 education.

The Triangle Iotas are working with multiple organizations, including the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, to create a mental health initiative benefiting African-American communities.
